CONWAY, AR – Today, Opportunity Arkansas released a comprehensive report, “Pathway to Prosperity: How to Phase Out Arkansas’s Work-Punishing Personal Income Tax,” which outlines six strategies state policymakers can implement to accelerate income tax elimination.
The six strategies include:
1. Creating tax cut triggers;
2. Limiting future spending increases;
3. Getting major budget items under control;
4. Draining the bloated state bureaucracy in Little Rock;
5. Eliminating wasteful spending; and
6. Simplifying revenue streams.
These strategies, when coupled with organic revenue growth generated by lower taxes and a growing economy, will continue making Arkansas a more competitive place to live and work.
Upon release of the latest report, Nic Horton, CEO & Founder of Opportunity Arkansas, offered the following comments:
“Unfortunately, Arkansas’s income tax is holding back our state and our people from realizing their full potential. But fortunately, having a state income tax is a choice—and it is a choice policymakers should reject. Opportunity Arkansas is proud to work hand-in-hand to make this goal a reality for Arkansans across our state.
“With a substantial budget surplus and state leaders who are committed to reducing the tax burden Arkansans face, there has never been a better time in Arkansas to gradually and decisively phase out the income tax and cement the state as an economic powerhouse. Hardworking Arkansans deserve a government that is as good as our people.”
